Marie Laforet

A highlight in my recent dj-sets, this little ditty by Marie Laforet. One of the few songs in which she sings higher than we're used to, thus she sounds more fragile. It's her first single. The version in the video differs from the studio-version. The clip is from the movie St. Tropez Blues (1961). I wonder if there's a better sound recording of this duo-version.

  1. I LOVE Marie Laforet!!!!
This is one of her more addictive songs.
I saw/met an up and coming female artist, Christina Courtin, last night at an event my friend Michael Shamberg curated as part of his Turtle series at a great soace here in Baltimore- she's hard to classify - bits of Fiona Apple and a bit of Madeliene Preyoux depending on the song - she's also a a gifted muli-instrumentalist - studied violin at ulliard. Some of it was a bit precious but she is certainly a maor talent and has a debut album coming out in Feb on nonesuch. I promised to burn her some French pop as she expressed an interest in it.
